(Written by Katie Saunders) The Tween Scene – A Year of Programs for 10 to 15 Year Olds. I attended this excellent session at ALA 2012, presented by Tiffany Pahman, Teen Librarian of the Oshawa Public Libraries. Though geared to a public library audience, the presentation was jam-packed with ideas for Tween programs. Tiffany identified the target group for these programs as 10 to 14 year olds and mentioned KAGOY, an acronym for Kids Are Getting Older Younger, meaning that many of these programs will work for patrons as young as 8-year-olds.
Tiffany generously shared access to The Tween Scene webpage, which has detailed information about each program, as well as print material downloads. She gave permission to all to adapt these for library programming purposes.
