Amanda Kiely – Ketchikan Public Library

Amanda led us through a handful of the hands-on experiments that she uses in her children’s program at the Ketchikan Public Library. The focus is on exploration, inquiry and “making a mess”.

Amanda created many of her activities by customizing the experiments that she found on The Spangler Effect, a youtube channel as well as various books with science experiments for kids. A favorite of our librarian group was the “Lava Lamp.” You could have your own “Science Lunch” program in the library! Here’s a link to a short video that shows 3 of the more popular experiments:
