The Breakout Session That Never Was

By Trill Schroeder

One of my favorite breakout (and most useful) sessions from the 2017 AASL Conference wasone that never happened. Well, let me explain. The speaker had a last-minute emergency and was unable to attend on the last day of the conference. Because of the short-notice, conference attendees were not aware that the breakout session was cancelled so we showed up anyway. After waiting for ten minutes or so, the group that gathered started chatting and getting to know one another. It was decided, we would have our own breakout session and share our best ideas. Who knew I was sitting amongst such a wealth of knowledge and brilliantness?! And the best part…these fabulous professionals didn’t hesitate to share their ideas.
Here are some of the things I learned!
 Shannon Miller McClintock is a must follow on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
 Flipgrid is worth learning how to do! Student engagement, student, engagement,
student engagement!
 Google Keep is a fabulous tool to capture, edit, share, and collaborate on your notes on
any device, anywhere. And it merges with Google Docs. Love it!
 You can request your own geofilters on Snapchat. Who knew?
 If you order through Permabound, they’ll help you skype with authors.
